Apart from a handful of
models (which are unique to Japan and therefore would not interfere with
sales of US or Mexican models) the quality of Fender Japan guitars is so
high that they are prevented from officially exporting to Europe or the
US. Generally speaking, what is made in Japan stays in Japan. This is
what we are missing out on...... a '70 Precision Bass in Natural
Ash. Here are

| This is a 1986-1987 Made
in Japan 'F' serial and is in good condition. It has what I
call a 'patina of age' .. there are no great dings, it has
obviously been cared for, but there are general signs of use, the
majority of which are too small to be photographed. Also the
hardware has some tarnishing... again, just the patina of a 20
year-old instrument. There is minimal fret wear and the fretboard
has been neatly re-lacquered where the original clear coat lifted
or chipped. You probably won't notice, but I mention it anyway.
The previous owner fitted a new pick guard before shipping it to
me.
All controls work smoothly
and without crackle.

| This P bass is high
spec - a US pickup in an ash body - and has bags of sustain and
resonance. The sound is
big and solid - lots of oomph!
There is minimal relief in the neck
and it feels comfortable to play right up to the top.
If you are looking for a well-cared
for, solid sounding, high-spec bass with a few miles on the
clock... this is for you.
