This Greco was made in 1978, although
you would never know it. The condition is excellent. It
is an EG600PR and cost
Yen 60,000, which was a fair of money back then!.
It really is in excellent condition,
with just a couple of really minor blemishes. Check the above photos.
As you will see from the '78 catalogue scan I found, this model did
not come with a pick guard fitted, however I believe one was
supplied. Whatever the case a pick guard has been fitted to this
guitar at some stage in its life: the screw holes are there. Some of
the black finish has worn of the centre pickup case, probably
because you will inevitably run your pick over it while playing.
Fret wear is minimal - this instrument has clearly had
an easy life! The Greco 'tulip-style' tuners work smoothly and positively
as do all other controls. The electrics appear to be absolutely
original. The body, by the way, is chambered.
Acoustically, there
is tons of sustain with well-defined tones. Plug it in, and it is
absolutely superb! I don't know much about Greco pups but, having 'googled
' this model I can tell you that they are U1000s. If you want a good clean tone, you've got it,
but if you want to frighten the neighbours and make them think you
splashed out a couple of grand on the real things... just crank it
up. Fantastic!!
It comes with a good, sturdy hard
case.
