Frequently Asked Qustions Screensavers How to Buy/Terms & Conditions

(Very) Frequently Asked Questions...

Q: Can you hold a guitar for me until I've sold mine/get paid at the end of the month/can find time to come and see you?
A: Only if you care to make a 10% deposit. The fact is, almost every time I've held a guitar without taking a deposit in the past, the prospective 'customer' has disappeared never to be heard from again.
Q: I've seen a guitar I like on your site. What now? Do you take credit cards/accept Paypal etc etc?
A: Everything you need to know (I hope) is here: How to Buy/Terms & Conditions If anything isn't clear, just telephone or drop me an email.
Q: Can I try before I buy?
A: Yes! I work from home so can be around almost any time or day, 24/7. Just contact me to arrange a time... and bring your wallet! It's very rare for anyone to leave empty handed when faced with a selection of Fender Japan's finest.
Q: Can you get me a specific model?
A: As I buy from the used market in Japan I can't source specific models. However, email me with your requirement and if one turns up I'll let you know and give you first refusal when it arrives.
Q: I've seen a guitar on eBay/in a shop/that my mate is selling ... is it genuine, is it worth the money etc etc?
A: Look, would you walk into a restaurant and ask them if they would advise you to eat at the cafe next door? No, you wouldn't. If you trust one vendor to the extent that you seek their opinion, perhaps that is who you should be buying from.
Q: I've found a Fender Japan guitar in the loft. It's red/it's serial number is... What's it worth?
A: Frankly, I'd rather you didn't ask. I can't tell what model it is from the colour or the serial and, in any case, the flip answer is: 'a guitar is worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it'. I live in the UK and I've a rough idea as to what the common models are going to fetch on private sale or auction because I keep a watch on prices and buy and sell myself. I don't know price levels elsewhere in the world and suggest you check your local classified adverts or local eBay site to get an idea. Shop prices are a law unto themselves, so don't get the idea that just because your local dealer is asking £500 for a similar model that's what you'll get via a private sale.
Q: Can you get spares for the Contemporary series guitars?
A: No. But try www.axeparts.net  or www.fretsonthenet.com. Nor do I source or deal in any other parts except what I need to maintain my own stock.
Q: I want to sell my guitar. Do you buy?
A: Yes, but only if it is a high-spec, non-export Fender Japan instrument like those I sell. And bear in mind that any dealer has to make a profit on every transaction, so won't offer as much as you should be able to get by selling privately. The advantage of selling to a dealer is you'll get a quick uncomplicated sale... at least you will from me. Sell privately and you might get more money... eventually.
